Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated proudly announced the induction of 15 distinguished individuals as Honorary Members into its Alpha Omega Chapter on July 27, 2024. The induction ceremony, held at Zeta Phi Beta’s international conference in Indianapolis, was aligned with the organization’s ongoing dedication to empowering women and advancing social welfare. Among these honored inductees are three influential figures from the world of Black arts and entertainment: Tatyana Ali, Leela James, and Angie Stone. Each has made significant contributions to their fields, exemplifying the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood that Zeta Phi Beta holds dear.

Tatyana Ali, renowned for her role as Ashley Banks on the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, continues to captivate audiences with her talent and dedication. Beyond her acting career, Ali is a passionate activist and advocate for education and youth empowerment. She has partnered with organizations like the Millennium Momentum Foundation and Step Up Women’s Network to champion causes that uplift and support young people. As an Honorary Member of Zeta Phi Beta, Ali will contribute to the sorority’s women’s entrepreneurship initiative, Woman Who Win, and mentor the Zeta Youth Affiliates, furthering her impact on the community.

Leela James, a powerful voice in R&B, has earned acclaim with her debut album “A Change Is Gonna Come” and subsequent Top 20 hits, including “Complicated.” Her music resonates deeply with fans, and her commitment to empowering young women through her GIRLS TALK Initiative underscores her dedication to nurturing future generations. James’s new role within Zeta Phi Beta will see her aligning with the sorority’s Black health and wellness initiatives, focusing on mental health and the Zeta Youth Affiliates. Her involvement will inspire and support those navigating life’s challenges with her characteristic strength and grace.

Angie Stone, a celebrated singer and songwriter with multiple Grammy nominations and Soul Train Awards, has left a notable mark on the music industry. Known for her soulful voice and profound contributions to R&B and neo-soul, Stone is also an advocate for health and wellness through the F.A.C.E Diabetes program, helping African Americans manage their risk for diabetes. As an Honorary Member of Zeta Phi Beta, Stone will bring her talents to the sorority’s Elder Care initiatives and Zetas Helping Other People Excel (Z-HOPE™) program, furthering her mission to support and uplift communities in need.

In addition to Ali, James, and Stone, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated welcomed a distinguished group of women to their ranks. The new Honorary Members include Patrice Banks, Jaspen “Jas” Boothe, Felicia Brokaw, Caretha Coleman, Wanda Durant, Andrea Hunley, Maimah Karmo, Dawn Morton-Rias, Peirresha “Perri” Shakes-Drayton, Ashley Sharpton, Dominque Sharpton, and Pennsylvania State Representative Regina Young. Each of these women has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to service, advocacy, and excellence, aligning with the sorority’s mission to support and enrich their communities. The new Honorary Members are set to play pivotal roles in expanding the sorority’s outreach and impact, continuing a legacy of leadership and service that began with its founders.
