On the heels of her UTA win, tennis champion and Carol’s Daughter brand ambassador Coco Gauff is embracing more than just her tennis accolades—she’s celebrating the beauty and power of self-care. Teaming up with sports host and culture enthusiast Taylor Rooks, Coco is featured in Curl Talk, a new video series with Carol’s Daughter that’s all about hair, empowerment, and living authentically.
In the series’ first installment, Coco invites Taylor to her home for a candid day of self-care and girl talk. Topics range from family to pop culture to Coco’s first unforgettable encounter with Serena Williams. Of course, the conversation wouldn’t be complete without touching on the importance of hair and beauty in Coco’s world—on and off the court.
Coco shares her philosophy on looking good as a key to feeling good:
“When you walk on court with a good outfit, and your hair, your braids are fresh, and your skin is looking good, you feel like, ‘Okay, I’mma beat this girl today. I’m going to beat you, and you can’t beat my outfit!’”

Her confidence and authenticity shine through as she highlights how self-expression through beauty fuels her performance and mental game.
Carol’s Daughter’s Journey
Founded in 1993 by Lisa Price, the brand was born out of love—literally. Inspired by her mother, Carol, Lisa began crafting homemade hair and body products in her Brooklyn kitchen. What started as a labor of love blossomed into a game-changer in the natural haircare industry.
From selling at flea markets to being featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2002 (and experiencing the unforgettable “O Effect”), Carol’s Daughter has evolved into a household name synonymous with quality and cultural pride. Today, its products are celebrated in over 30,000 retail stores and even showcased in the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture as a pioneer of the Natural Hair Care Renaissance.
Through the Curl Talk series, Carol’s Daughter stays true to its mission of celebrating Black women and their stories. Coco’s voice joins a legacy of empowerment, from Lisa Price’s first recipes to the cultural moments that have made Carol’s Daughter a cornerstone of Black beauty.
