As Art Basel Miami takes over the city from December 2–8, the spotlight will be on a wide range of art, performances, and cultural experiences. Miami Art Week 2024 promises to showcase global talent, and we’re highlighting a few incredible Black artists, performers, and curators making their mark this year. From jazz tributes to immersive art installations, here are three Black art moments we’re especially excited about:
The Betsy Hotel Celebrates Black Jazz Talent

The Betsy Hotel has long been a haven for Black creativity, and this Miami Art Week, it’s once again leading the charge by celebrating Black jazz talent. The Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club Presents Rhapsody for a Beloved World by Marielle Plaisir

At Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club, you’ll find Rhapsody for a Beloved World, a powerful art installation by Miami-based artist Marielle Plaisir. Part of the No Vacancy initiative, in collaboration with the City of Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA), Plaisir’s work uses bold Caribbean colors and scenes of children playing to explore themes of racial segregation and unity. The exhibit invites reflection on identity, culture, and the universal strength of human connection. It will be on display throughout Miami Art Week, offering an opportunity for art lovers to dive into a conversation about race and hope.
HUES: The Art of Expression by Soul Era Records & Lipstickroyalty Agency Inc.

On Saturday, December 7, HUES: The Art of Expression will take over a private venue for an exclusive celebration of Black art, music, and culture. Hosted by Soul Era Records and Lipstickroyalty Agency Inc., this event will feature live R&B performances, dynamic art displays by emerging artists, and a DJ set by DJ Luna. Guests will also enjoy premium cocktails by Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, celebrating the legacy of America’s first Black master distiller.
