In a world where fashion increasingly blends heritage with innovation, Bent Kahina stands out as a brand pushing the boundaries of both. Co-founded by Jora Frantzis and Chaima Mennana, the label takes a bold, futuristic approach to design while staying deeply connected to their North African roots. Bent Kahina creates a unique aesthetic that challenges tradition and redefines what the future of fashion could look like.
Jora Frantzis and Chaima Mennana are the co-founders of Bent Kahina; Jora and Chaima are both from Aleria and are descendants of the indigenous Berbers. A tribe of North African nomads that live in the Sharara desert. Their name translates to Daughter of Kahina, a North African Warrior Queen who inspires the brand to break with tradition and embrace the future.
The designers take their inspiration from futuristic moves like Metropolis and 2001: A Space Odyssey. In an interview with Bazaar magazine Frantzis and Mennana stated that “AI and UFOs are on our doorsteps—it’s no longer an imagined reality. Designers are adding their own spin to these aesthetics, but the notions of futuristic designs have been ingrained in our minds for over a century”
The designs from Bent Kahina focus on both sleek and exaggerated forms. The larger and puffer designs are more geometric and detailed. While more tight-fitting designs catch your eye by creating emphasis on certain parts of the form. Their latest design is a 3D printed chrome plated Du-Rag that can be personalized with custom sizing and engraving. Whether it be slim or full, Bent Kahina’s styles give us a glimpse into a maybe not-so-distant future.
Celebrities such as Teyana Taylor and Pamela Anderson have been photographed in the iconic brand, while Busta Rhymes, Lil Nas x, Cardi B, and Mary J Blige have received custom pieces. One of Bent Kahina’s most iconic collaborations was earlier this year, when they dressed the skaters in Usher’s Super Bowl halftime show.
Bent Kahina has recently made their 24/25 Ready to Wear collection available for Pre-order. They have also added BK Customs, where you can bring your design to life by adjusting an existing style or creating a brand-new one.
