Earlier this month, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Disney’s highly anticipated Tiana series had been shelved, leaving many fans disappointed. However, Anika Noni Rose — the iconic voice behind Disney’s first Black princess — is urging fans to continue showing love for the beloved character.

In a heartfelt Instagram post shared earlier today, Rose addressed the disappointment surrounding the series’ cancellation while expressing deep gratitude for the creative team behind it.
“I too am deeply disappointed that the continuation of Tiana’s journey in series form has been cut short,” Rose wrote. “The series was a long time coming, and a lot of beautiful work was put into it by all of the creatives involved.”
She specifically shouted out writer/director Joyce Sherri, long-time champion Jenn Lee, and the talented animators and music team that had worked tirelessly to bring the series to life.
Despite the setback, Rose encouraged fans not to lose hope. She revealed that what was originally intended to be part of the Tiana series will now air as a special event titled Tiana Special Event. Rose urged fans to tune in, emphasizing that viewer support can still demonstrate the demand for Princess Tiana’s continued presence on-screen.
“And when I say tune in,” Rose added, “I mean, tell your friends, family, coworkers, babysitters — tell all the people you know who have loved Princess Tiana, Naveen, Louis, Charlotte, Mama Odie, and the magic they’ve created together over the years.”
Rose’s emotional message highlighted her gratitude to fans, celebrating those who have consistently supported the character since The Princess and the Frog debuted in 2009.
“I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the love you have shown,” she wrote, acknowledging fans for their dedication through hashtags like #TianaTuesday and #Disneybound.
“Make a wish and hold on tight…” Rose concluded, echoing Tiana’s iconic words from the film.
While the Tiana series may no longer be moving forward, Anika Noni Rose’s powerful statement makes one thing clear: Princess Tiana’s magic lives on, and her story still has the power to inspire generations to come.
