When Charm La’Donna says she’s gonna go cry, we believe her—and we’re crying with her.

The acclaimed choreographer, creative director, and cultural visionary has just landed not one, but two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming. One for her electric work on Beyoncé Bowl, the Netflix concert film that gave us glittering visuals, cowboy sensuality, and a stadium full of screaming fans; and the other for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Kendrick Lamar, where her movement direction helped define one of the most acclaimed performances of the year.

“TWO EMMY NOMINATIONS. God continues to bless me. I’m completely overwhelmed,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to @televisionacad, to the incredible teams behind both projects, and to everyone who’s supported me throughout this surreal journey. I’m gonna go cry now BRB.

She has every reason to.

A Legacy in Motion

Charm La’Donna isn’t new to this. A protégé of Fatima Robinson, she’s choreographed for artists like Meghan Trainor, Dua Lipa, Rosalía, and Kendrick Lamar—and even helped sculpt the Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem in 2022. It’s her signature blend of storytelling and spirit that makes her choreography feel like memory.

In Beyoncé Bowl, La’Donna worked alongside fellow choreographers Tyrik Patterson, Christopher Grant, and Parris Goebel to craft routines for standout moments like “My House” and “Texas Hold ’Em.” For Kendrick’s Super Bowl set, it was a stripped-down display of poetic sharpness: bodies in black marching with precision, folding into his lyricism with haunting force.

Both performances shared a throughline—Black excellence made literal through motion.

The Culture in Her Hands

For Black artists, choreography a balance of coding joy, protest, power, and legacy into the body. Charm La’Donna does all of that, and more.

In a field still dominated by men—and often white men—her double nomination is a historic flex. She’s reminding the industry that Black women move the culture—literally and figuratively.

Congratulations to Charm and all of 2025’s talented Emmy nominees.
