This year’s ESSENCE Festival of Culture promises an unparalleled celebration of Black excellence, history, and artistry, according to an official statement . Rooted in the themes of legacy and evolution, the festival will take place at the Caesar’s Superdome, offering an in-person and virtual experience that honors three decades of cultural influence.

Usher, a longtime ESSENCE Festival favorite, will deliver a performance of his seminal album “Confessions,” which turned 20 this year. The album, originally released in 2004, catapulted Usher to global superstardom with hits like “Yeah!,” “Burn,” and the deeply personal title track “Confessions Part II.” Certified Diamond, “Confessions” remains one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century, marking a defining moment in Usher’s career and in R&B history.

Usher’s return to the ESSENCE stage is particularly special. He first performed at the festival in 1998, winning over audiences with his youthful energy and undeniable talent. His special anniversary performance promises to be a nostalgic yet fresh experience, celebrating an album that continues to resonate with fans worldwide.

The festival’s 30th anniversary will also feature performances by some of the biggest names in music:

• Janet Jackson, who returns following her record-breaking 2022 performance, is set to mesmerize the audience once again.
• Charlie Wilson, an eight-time ESSENCE Festival veteran, will bring his soulful hits to the stage.
• Victoria Monét, a three-time Grammy Award winner, will make her ESSENCE debut with a co-headlining performance.
• Birdman & Friends Presents 30 Years of Cash Money Millionaires will celebrate the legacy of New Orleans’ own Cash Money Records.
• A special tribute to Frankie Beverly & Maze, featuring a passing of the torch moment curated by Grammy Award-winning producer Bryan-Michael Cox.
