In April, Walt Disney Imagineering launched a new YouTube series titled We Call It Imagineering, offering viewers a firsthand glimpse into the extraordinary work being done by the brilliant minds behind the magic. According to Jason Recher, Vice President Content & Digital Integration, this is a move right out of the playbook of Walt Disney himself, who famously took viewers behind the scenes in television specials.
The first episode of the series provided a sneak peek into the world of audio-animatronics, teasing the upcoming opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Now, the second episode focuses on the soul-stirring magic of Disney’s iconic music, featuring the talents of acclaimed musicians PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard.
Set against the backdrop of the recording studio, viewers are treated to intimate glimpses of Morton and Blanchard as they immerse themselves in the creative process. The episode highlights the integral role that music has always played in shaping the guest experience at Disney parks.
In a touching moment in the trailer, PJ Morton is seen riding the attraction for the first time, his expression a mix of awe and pride as he realizes the impact of his musical contributions. “I wrote that song,” he exclaims from the ride vehicle, a touching moment of bringing his dreams to life.
Scheduled to premiere today on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube Channel, the second episode of “We Call It Imagineering” is set to be a celebration of the artistry and innovation that defines Disney’s theme park experiences. It’s also a reminder that the spirit of innovation is alive and well within the walls of Disney Imagineering.
