At the highly anticipated Disney Entertainment Showcase during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on August 10, Ryan Coogler took center stage to reveal an exciting new project that has fans buzzing with anticipation. The event, held at the Honda Center and presented by Visa®, showcased Disney’s creative prowess with surprise celebrity appearances, new film and series announcements, and major musical performances.
Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger opened the evening by expressing gratitude to Disney’s devoted fanbase and highlighting the company’s century-long legacy of storytelling and innovation. “Our deep bond with fans, forged over a century of storytelling, is stronger today than ever before,” Iger said. The event was hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown and featured a star-studded lineup, including Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman, Pixar Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter, Disney Animation’s Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee, and Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige.

One highlight of the evening came when Ryan Coogler, known for his groundbreaking work on the Black Panther films, took to the stage to introduce the upcoming Disney+ series, Ironheart. Coogler, alongside his team at Proximity, is producing this highly anticipated series for Marvel Television. The presentation featured a sneak peek of footage and insights from stars Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, Regan Aliyah, and Alden Ehrenreich.

Set to premiere in 2025, Ironheart follows Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), a brilliant young inventor who makes a return to her hometown of Chicago after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The series promises a clash of technology and magic as Riri– known for her innovative iron suits–encounters the enigmatic Parker Robbins aka “The Hood” (Anthony Ramos). The cast also includes Lyric Ross, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White. With Chinaka Hodge as head writer and executive producer, and episodes directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes, Ironheart is set to bring a fresh and dynamic perspective to the Marvel universe.
As the showcase concluded, the excitement surrounding Ironheart highlighted Disney’s continued commitment to delivering groundbreaking content that resonates with fans of all ages. With Ryan Coogler associated with the project, this new series is set to be a standout addition to the Marvel Television lineup.
