The energy of the 4th Annual Luxe Derby Weekend is in full swing across South Florida. This multi-day celebration—designed to honor Black excellence, foster meaningful connections, and support transformative causes—kicked off with a VIP Networking Mixer yesterday at English-Brown Winery, a Black-owned wine bar that set a sophisticated yet welcoming tone for the weekend.

As the host venue for the VIP Networking Mixer, English-Brown Winery provided an ideal backdrop for meaningful conversations and new connections. The Black-owned winery is a destination for wine enthusiasts of all levels, offering handcrafted wines by the glass, bottle, or case. With a boutique wine bar, private and semi-private tasting sessions, and regular events, it’s a staple for those who appreciate a curated wine experience. Guests can also enjoy daily happy hours from 6-8 PM, Wednesday through Friday, making it a go-to spot for both locals and visitors looking to indulge in fine wines within an intimate setting.
During an on-site chat with I Love Us, event organizer Lacey Nicole expressed her excitement:
“This year we’re looking forward to raising more money for this year’s charity, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, South Palm Beach County Chapter. Every year we strive to exceed what we did the previous year. We want everyone to have an amazing time, so that next year they come back and bring some people with them.”
As the weekend moves into its second day, anticipation is building for tonight’s Luxe Derby VIP Only Cocktail Party at Gigi’s Music Cafe in Sunrise (4385 NW 88th Ave, Sunrise, FL) from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. This exclusive soirée promises smooth R&B vibes, Neo Soul-inspired bites, and signature cocktails—a curated space where culture, business, and friendship converge. Nicole noted:
“It’s definitely something different. This is not an event that most people get the opportunity to attend. What we wanted to do when we created this concept is to give people something different. I think this definitely does that, but it also maintains a certain level of sophistication.”
Saturday, February 8th, is set to be the pinnacle of the weekend with Luxe Day at the Derby at Carousel Aventura’s trackside in Hallandale (901 S Federal Hwy, Hallandale, FL). With VIP entry beginning at 2:00 p.m. and general admission at 3:30 p.m., attendees will enjoy live races, gourmet chef-prepared meals, premium beverages served by personal bartenders, and interactive exhibits showcasing upscale brands.
The festivities will conclude on Sunday, February 9th, with a Superbowl Party at Aura Lounge Hollywood (1916 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, FL) starting at 5:00 p.m.
Lacey Nicole emphasized the event’s significant impact on local businesses and the community:
“People are doing business together and we love that. I’ve seen businesses be impacted positively from attending and sponsoring the event. We always look to garner further exposure for our attendees—whether it’s from a business aspect or by meeting a new long-time friend, that’s a success.”
Attracting a diverse mix of business leaders, emerging entrepreneurs, and cultural influencers, the 4th Annual Luxe Derby Weekend stands as a capsule of the sophisticated spirit and vibrant heritage of South Florida’s Black community.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the weekend. If you’re in South Florida, tickets are still available—join us in celebrating Black excellence, community, and transformative impact.
