With a well-deserved Grammy nomination for her latest album World Wide Playdate, Divinity continues to make waves in the music industry, inspiring families and uplifting the power of play.
Divinity’s World Wide Playdate has earned a Grammy nomination for Best Children’s Album, marking her second consecutive Grammy nomination in the family music genre. After the success of her debut album Ready Set Go!, Divinity’s continued presence in the music scene speaks volumes about her artistry and the joy her music brings to listeners of all ages. We’re happy to spotlight her work as part of our ongoing celebration of Black artists during Grammy season.
Who Is Divinity Roxx?
Divinity Roxx is no stranger to the spotlight. A Grammy-nominated artist, composer, and musician, Divinity is best known for her role as Beyoncé‘s bassist and musical director from 2006 to 2011. Her time with Beyoncé propelled her career into the mainstream, but Divinity’s journey as a solo artist has been equally impressive. With four solo albums under her belt, including Ain’t No Other Way (2003), The Roxx Boxx Experience (2012), and ImPossible (2016), Divinity is known for her powerful musicianship, innovative sound, and dedication to inspiring others. She’s also an advocate for positive, uplifting music that brings people together, particularly children.
What Makes Her Music Stand Out
Divinity’s latest project, World Wide Playdate, is a perfect example of her vision to spread joy through music. The album, a hip-hop-infused family party record, offers ten original tracks that combine fun lyrics with catchy beats and timeless hooks. Divinity’s talent for blending affirmations and positive messages into her music makes World Wide Playdate a standout. With themes of friendship, family, self-empowerment, and chasing dreams, her album is a blueprint for good vibes and connection.
Notable collaborations on the album include her longtime mentor and five-time Grammy-winning bassist Victor Wooten, Mumu Fresh, Tarriona “Tank” Ball from Tank and the Bangas, Malcolm Jamal Warner, and Nigerian-born artist Teemanay. The Atlanta-based Genesis Innovation Academy Cheer Team adds even more energy, creating a collection of songs that are as impactful as they are fun.
Beyond the album, Divinity’s music is also making waves on TV. This year, she composed and performed the theme song for the hit PBS Kids television show Lyla in the Loop.
Our Best Wishes
As Divinity Roxx prepares for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, we want to extend our warmest congratulations to her for another well-deserved nomination. World Wide Playdate celebrates positivity, joy, and the importance of play, and we’re excited that the world is taking notice. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Divinity.
Good luck, Divinity, and thank you for bringing so much joy and positivity into the world with your music!
